Grease Trap Recovery Systems
Grease traps or grease interceptors are a receptacle located between kitchen drain lines and sanitary sewer lines that allows for the separation and collection of fats, oils and greases (FOG) from used water, preventing such materials from entering the municipal sewer system.
How does the system work?
- Grease traps slow down the flow of water coming from drains, allowing the water/grease time to cool.
- Cooling causes the grease to coagulate and float to the top, while the heavier solids fall to the bottom of the trap.
- The remaining water is now safe to pass through to the municipal sewer lines.
The importance of a CLEAN grease trap!
- Prevents jeopardizing normal operation due to drain line blockages and back-ups, and even worse, foul odors!
- Too much FOG being deposited into the city sewer lines can lead to expensive fines.
- Most importantly, a clean grease trap keeps your restaurant in compliance with The State of Connecticut New Waste Water Discharge Guideline which recommends, at minimum, that traps should be cleaned every three (3) months.
